Craft Beer Cellar Fort Collins Preps for GABF

With nearly 800 breweries sampling thousands of beers, the Great American Beer Festival is the pre-eminent craft beer festival in the country.

Craft Beer Cellar Fort Collins is just over an hour away from the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, where the GABF is held. It’s well worth the trip if you’re in Colorado for the fest.

CBC Fort Collins owner Chris Lazzery opened the store just over two years ago; this will be his third GABF since the store’s opening. One of the highlights has been meeting some of the thousands of people that arrive from across the country to attend the event.

“There is so much respect and camaraderie between everyone, and I’m fortunate enough to be in Colorado each year when it happens,” Lazzery said. “Obviously, a lot of out-of-towners visit for the event, and it’s always a pleasure meeting new people and talking beer.”

With any significant beer festival comes special beer. CBC Fort Collins is the only store in town with beer from Casey Brewing & Blending, including Peach Fruit Stand and Funky Blender. There’s still much to be determined between now and next week, but Lazzery says Rhinegeist, MadTree Brewing, and The Ale Apothecary are among the breweries expected to land in the store.

You can keep an eye on CBC Fort Collins’ Facebook page for updates on what’s coming into the store. (Update on 10/3: You’ll really want to check out those updates. The beer that is coming in this week is absolutely amazing.)

Beyond just the beer, though, is the experience of being part of GABF.

“It’s always fun meeting brewers, owners; anyone in the industry,” Lazzery said.

“We’ve had Hoppin’ Frog, Creature Comforts, Troegs owners and staffs in here before and always get great feedback about the store.”

“Our friends and neighbors Mayor of Old Town, Tap and Handle, and Choice City Butcher and Deli always do great events with world class beers. We’re looking forward to The Hop Grenade’s Rare Barrel tap takeover this year, as well as Tap and Handle’s Topping Goliath takeover. The ‘One Night Stand’ at the Mayor is always an absolute treat.”

Whether you have a ticket to GABF or are just in Colorado next week, there’s plenty going on. Craft Beer Cellar is proud to be a part of it with our amazing store in Fort Collins.
