V-Day Beer and Food: Together, Forever.

Valentine's Day Beers
A few brews to fall in love with.

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow. Love is in the air, and snow is in the streets. So we thought we’d put together a list of 10 great beers (well, nine beers and one cider) we carry and foods to pair them with. So whether the night involves dinner reservations, cooking at home, hanging with pals, or blowing the whole thing off, consider bringing home a few craft brews. We’ve included appetizer, entree, and dessert options to cover your bases . because you’re OUR Valentines, beer geeks!

1. Enlightenment Ales Brut, $17.50

Pair It With: Strawberries. The carbonation, dry body, and fruity aroma of this American bière de champagne is great with strawberries . in fact, we’d go so far to say it’s better than champagne. That’s right. We went there.

2. Samuel Smith’s Organic Chocolate Stout, $2.25 each or $11 for four.

Pair It With: Vanilla ice cream. In fact, we suggest you use one or two scoops to make this into a beer float. The rich, chocolate flavor and creamy mouthfeel on this beer are hard to beat when it comes to the perfect marriage of beer and cacao.

3. Rodenbach Grand Cru Flanders Red Ale, $9.50

Pair It With: Plain cheesecake. This beer’s subtle, sour flavor with fruit undertones will go well with the sharp tang of an unadorned cheesecake.

4. Chimay Red, $12/25.4 oz bottle, $21 for four 11.25 ounce bottles

Pair It With: A rich beef dish, like Flemish Carbonnade. Paired with the subtle, fruity nuances and a hint of sweetness from this Belgian dubbel, it’s a match made in heaven.

5. Trois Dames L’Amoureuse Golden Ale, $7.50

Pair It With: Fresh goat cheese and crackers. The subtle fruit character and earthy flavors of this Swiss beer make it a shoe-in for chèvre.

6. Lost Abbey Devotion Belgian-style Pale Ale, $9.25

Pair It With: Roast game, pork, or fish. The peppery hops and pronounced Belgian yeast combined with a touch of pale or caramel malts add character to meats and seafood.

7. Uinta Tilted Smile Imperial Pilsner, $8.50

Pair It With: Spicy tuna. Whether it’s an entree or appetizer portion, this crisp pilsner made with Saaz hops pairs well with a little spice.

8. Mystic Three Cranes Saison, $9.50

Pair It With: Anything. Seriously . saisons are flexible. This one is just a little dry and tart, with a very apropos pink tinge.

9. Slumbrew My Better Half Imperial Cream Ale, $8

Pair It With: Any and all barbecue . a touch of char on meats or veggies are perfect with this smooth ale.

10. Bantam Wunderkind Cider, $7.75

Pair It With: Aged cheddar cheese. Apples and cheese go together like, well, peas and carrots. Or peanut butter and jelly. Or cookies and milk. Or…
