We just took a look at our calendars for the month of May, both inside and outside of CBC Stores, and boy is it packed. Festivals, dinners, classes, brewery open houses, homebrew competitions… There is no denying that it’s a great month to be a #BeerGeek.
Check out what’s happening in the Craft Beer Cellar Family this weekend:
Friday, 5/2 5-7pm: We welcome in Joe from Craft Brewers Guild to guide us through the award-winning selections from Placentia, CA’s The Bruery including some of their sour offerings. We don’t get to taste these very often, so if you’re wondering what sour beer is all about, this is a must! Special congratulations to The Bruery on celebrating their 6 year anniversary.
Saturday, 5/3 12-3pm: Connecticut’s Two Roads Brewing Company has arrived. Meaghan will be on hand to pour samples. And yes, we’ll throw the Kentucky Derby on for ya ;). 3:30-5:30pm: Westfield River Tasting
Friday, 5/2 6-8pm: Not a competition, per se, but not not a competition, either. Ken from Monsieur Touton Wines will be pouring samples shoulder-to-shoulder with Jeff from Stone Brewing Company, and we’re looking for YOUR feedback about which pairs best with some food from our neighbors at Four Square Restaurant & Bar!
Saturday, 5/3 Start your day at South Shore Homebrew Emporium (58 Randolph St., Weymouth) for the American Homebrewers Association Big Brew Day. The fun starts at 9am and goes all day. More info on their Facebook page (via the link above). 1-3pm: Moonlight Meadery Tasting 4-6pm Berkley Beer Company Tasting
With a little luck, CBC Brandon should have their tasting license in-hand any day now. In the mean time, stop in to grab a copy of “Florida Breweries” by friend-of-the-store Gerald Walen:
Friday 5/2 5-7pm: In advance (& support) of Suzanne’s trip to Chicago next week to R.O.C.K. the Master Cicerone® exam, we’re pouring beer from Finch’s Beer Company out of the Windy City. (P.S. Like “Beantown”, nobody there calls it that)
Saturday 5/3 1-3pm: Berkshire Brewing Company in the house. Do you remember the first time you fell in love with Dean’s Beans Coffehouse Porter? We do.
Friday 5/2 5-7pm: Otter Creek Brewing Company Fresh Slice White IPA. ‘Nuff said.
Saturday 5/3: It’s going to be 66 degrees and sunny in Portsmouth. Pro tip: Get some beer and sit outside.
Friday 5/2 5-7pm: Go small or go home. Or, better yet, go to “The Winch” for a Notch Brewing tasting including the return of Left of the Dial IPA. Big grass notes and enough bitterness to keep you honest, but low enough in alcohol (4.3% ABV) and IBUs (International Bitterness Units) to keep you coming back for more. Plus, we’re putting Owner/Brewer Chris in charge of the jams for the tasting.
Friday 5/2: Our friends at Groennfell Meadery had to reschedule Friday night’s tasting, unfortunately. But they’ll be back soon!
Saturday 5/3: We’re brewing up something for the AHA “Big Brew Day”, too! Literally. Brewing. In. The. Store. Come check out our new in-store set-up, and register for the next session of Homebrew 101 on Tuesday, May 6th in-person or ONLINE
Friday 5/2: We’ve got a few CBC Beer Geeks headed out to do a private tasting for a local company early this afternoon. Interested in having us in? Drop us a line: firstname.lastname@example.org 5-7pm: Grey Sail Brewing of Rhode Island is in the house.
Saturday 5/3 1-3pm: We’re excited to have Ipswich Ale Brewery at #CBCWesty. Bring all your questions about their new brewery and soon-to-be-open tap room and restaurant!
Looks like we’re going to need a separate post for all the FANTASTIC events happening outside of our doors…
