That’s right, fellow geeks: it’s time for more number crunching! This week we decided to figure out what our best selling stouts of all time are since it’s the perfect time of year to be drinking them. But first, let’s check out Randy Mosher’s definition of what a stout is, from his book, Tasting Beer:
The word stout, meaning a strong black beer, goes back at least to 1630. The term was applied to the “stout butt beers” that would eventually go on to be named “porter.” So all the history that applies to porter is also part of the stout story. Stout forms a widespread and varied family of beers whose members all share a deep, dark, roasty character.
So without further ado, here are our best sellers:
- Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout
- Left Hand Milk Stout
- Southern Tier Blackwater Series (includes Choklat and Crème Brûlée)
- Brooklyn Brewery Black Chocolate Stout
- Mayflower Winter Oatmeal Stout
What do you think? Are you surprised? Inspired? All of the above?!
